YouthShoots engages our audiences in inspirational and interactive training that supports young people in their development and growth in understanding mental wellbeing, online safety and empowering them to pass on their knowledge to their peers.
To see how we do this, we worked in partnership with QLS to film the International Premier of our Resilience Reps Training for young people in Athens, Greece on 24th November 2024.
YouthShoots provides exciting training to young people on mental health, wellbeing, resilience, coping strategies and internet safety & harms. Through a combination of training and strong aftercare support, the YouthShoots Programme helps to protect young people by providing a peer led intervention of positive change that will germinate throughout the whole school.
YouthShoots’ ultimate aim is to engage as many children as possible and improve their resilience to challenges ahead and promote and protect their wellbeing.
We provide a unique service where the needs of individual schools are met by precisely calibrating engagement: detailed advance remote, or in-person meetings, are the norm at YouthShoots.
YouthShoots has a whole school approach and focuses on the journey of the pupil through school, from seedlings to sprouts, tailoring its training content to specific age groups and important moments in a pupil’s development (e.g. when digital safety becomes important or when it is time to make decisions about the future). We strive to reach as many pupils as possible within the budgetary envelope of the school, which includes through the cultivation of our ‘Resilience Reps’, which ensures pupils can propagate the resilience they learn throughout the school.
Our ‘Propagation Pack’, created with the school, leaves staff and pupils with Lesson Plans, PowerPoints and Activities to develop and practice the lessons learnt on the core training day and we stay in close contact with each and every school to help the ideas grow and encourage any social action initiatives the pupils adopt as a result of the training.
Every stage of YouthShoots’ engagement aligns with the current Legislation (Online Safety Act 2023), Regulation (Ofcom, “A Positive Vision for Media Literacy: Ofcom’s Three-Year Media Literacy Strategy”/“Evaluation Toolkit.."), Government curriculum (RSE "Mental Wellbeing" and "Internet Safety & Harms") and initiatives (Senior Mental Health Leads and PHE's “Promoting Children and Young People’s Emotional Health and Wellbeing”), which are currently quickly evolving, as pupil wellbeing and internet safety awareness has achieved its deserved priority.
YouthShoots empowers and supports young people to realise their potential through impactful training initiatives. Get in touch to find out more.
